Weekend Niche

Whoo hoo it's Saturday! Time for a little R & R. Well actually this weekend the man and I are doing some serious work around the house, but I hope you all get to do something fun.

Last weekend I kicked it off by visiting the Grand Opening of a new boutique in St. Paul called Niche. It's a women-owned, ethically made fashion boutique. Also, the price points are amazing! Most ethically made boutiques I have visited are just out of my price range so I was pleasantly surprised when not only was this ethical and chic, but affordable too!

Hallelujah it's Friday! Who's ready for this weekend?  It's been a rough week just crazy busy, but with the start of Spring I feel a little refreshed. Did anyone bust out shorts or sandals this week? I didn't get that daring yet but I did not wear a coat yesterday. Bring on the sunshine!

Happy Monday! We are almost officially at the first day of Spring and the weather might actually match around here. I saw 50s in the forecast this week and I cannot wait. I am ready to pack away my sweaters and bring out the shorts and sandals! Who's with me?

I have also partnered up again with Rocksbox this month to showcase some fun accessories for Spring! Also, still good to use my code mymonochromaticlifexoxo for your first month free!

St Patrick's Day

Today I am jumping out of my skin with excitement! This weekend is St. Patrick's Day! Here we are celebrating on Saturday, typically we celebrate on an actual day but not when it falls on a Sunday. So we get two Saturday celebrations in a row, which is fine by me! It's a big day for us we go with a big group to have breakfast, march in the parade and drink all day (we cab it so don't worry). My dad has been marching in the parade since I can remember and as soon as I was 21 we started going to.

Spring Break Swimsuit Round Up

Happy Spring Break! Or if it's not this week for you I hope it's soon. We are already half way through March, can you believe it? This month is flying by. Last year this time I was preparing for my Mexico trip with friends. This year, unfortunately, I am stuck at home. Le sigh. However, I am still deep in checking out swimsuit shopping mode. So many cute options. High waisted options and one piece options have moved out of the realm of matronly and into the future.

Old Navy Try On

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend! Around here we ended up with more snow. This is probably the snowiest winter I can remember and I am so ready for it to be over. But, I won't let it keep me down. Thankfully the roads were decent so I could get out on Sunday and film a try on for you all at Old Navy. The full video is saved in a highlight and also on my stories on instagram.   I have to be honest, I don't typically shop there, but I have seen several other people find some awesome pieces so wanted to see what the fuss was about. I was really feeling Spring vibes there so all the pieces are ready for the warmer weather. It was so hard not to buy all of these pieces!

Target Loungewear Round Up

So I was at Target the other day, like the third time that week, to pick up a few odds and ends. I always leave Target having forgetting something so I have gotten in the habit of taking a spin around the store first. This time I noticed that they have added to their sleep/loungewear collections. They have added three new sleep and loungewear lines that are so gorgeous! I was super impressed by them so I wanted to share some of  my favorites

I focused more on the Colsie and Stars Above, because the Auden is more bras/underwear.  I love a few of these pajama sets. The floral pant and matching top give me an Anthropologie vibe and they are what first caught my eye. These also come in a cropped pant and short sleeve option. I like the longer pants especially because of the striped detail. I like when patterns mix. I also bought the bralette with the stripe. It's more athleisure wear style and it's a super comfy cotton. It's the best weekend bra ever, not a ton of support so more for like us smaller ladies ;) The other piece I really loved this nightshirt that says "C'est tou bon!" I love a little french detail. And how cute are these little slippers?  So adorable, I need to grab a pair.

T3 Micro Curling Wand Review

This post has been a long time in the making. I have been wanting this for a long time and finally, for my birthday my man bought these for me! I was so surprised he got these. To be fair I had it on my wishlist, but still I never thought he'd buy it. I also wanted to be sure I had enough time to use it before I gave an accurate review. This has been a big one in the blogosphere so I had to try it out for myself.

Casual Cropped

Happy Monday friends!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I will try to resist the urge to complain about the snow here. We are still digging ourselves out here in Minnesota in March. This is atypical, even for Minnesota. We are trying to keep warm by thinking ahead to, hopefully, warmer temperatures in our future. You'll notice I took these photos a couple of weeks ago because there is hardly any snow on the ground. Here's hoping it looks like this again soon!

I have to admit I have had a thing with big buttons lately. I love this trend so much. I think it makes a pretty basic top just so much more interesting looking Most tops that have used this button style are tried and true basic henleys and cardigans. I also just think it's fun so I am down for it at any opportunity. I also have been really loving Abercrombie + Fitch lately, I don't know what's happening. I haven't shopped there since high school but in the last couple of months, their casual style has been killin' it. I still feel too old to shop in store, but I can definitely shop online. I saw this top a while ago and resisted for a bit, but eventually, it went on a sale around MLK day and I snagged it. It's so cute and super comfy. The softness of a great henley but extra chic because of the cut. At this point, I am a high waisted or bust kind of denim wearer. I really have no interest in a mid-rise jean. This opens my wardrobe to many more crop tops that I can appropriately wear because they stop just where a high waist jean starts.  I never thought I'd be able to wear to so many crop tops but I have  a few now I love, including this one. This exact top is sold out but I linked two very similar ones. Super cozy and easy to dress down or add a few cute pieces of jewelry to dress it up a bit.

I decided to pair this top and denim with these shoes from Target. Looking ahead to warmer weather you can start to think about exposing more of your foot/ankle. I got these shoes last year and they were a fan favorite, but they are back in stock! Hallelujah. Just in time for Spring, they go with so many looks. I like them best with a skinny jean and more casual top. I feel a little hipster-like in this look and I don't hate it ;)

Two Years In: 5 Lessons I've Learned

Yesterday marked my daughter's 2nd birthday. I know it's cliche to say, but time truly has flown by. The first few months were rough, as you would expect. I honestly have never been great with kids. I barely babysat, I had no interest in children. D and I were married 7 years before I even got pregnant. He was a lot like me, not all that into kids (outside of our nieces and nephews) so we were woefully ill-prepared. That said, we're both competent adults so I figured we would figure it out. For the most part, that has been true so far.
