Winter Metallic Tee

Happy Wednesday! We are halfway through this week and I am thrilled. Somehow during this holiday season the week's are harder to tolerate. Am I the only one who thinks this?  The weather around here has not been helping. It got cold and slush/snowed and then got warm and most of the snow melted. It is the weirdest late Fall/Winter we have had in while.

Because of the weather my outfits have been a mix of seasons to account for whatever may happen that day. You may have seen glimpses of this look when I collaborated for the Innovations MN fashion show a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to be fashionable but comfortable because I would be in this outfit basically all day and as contributing stylist for the show I had to represent. I was eyeing this ASOS top pre-maternity so when I saw it came in a maternity top I was totally in.  I don't usually love a graphic tee but I think the contrast with the black sold me. You all know I love black on black on black so I paired this with my favorite moto leggings. I topped it off with this cape blazer for a little more show and these amaze Quipid boots that I cannot get enough of.

Monday Round Up: Weekend Sales + Cyber Monday

Happy Cyber Monday everyone! Hope you all had a great long weekend and had an opportunity to relax. We are officially in the holiday swing so it is a mad dash until whatever holiday you celebrate. I tried to take full advantage of the long weekend with a little mix of everything.

On Friday I put up my Christmas decorations. I always put my tree up on the Friday after Thanksgiving. My mom always did that and I honor that tradition. I also love my tree and want it up as long as possible (i.e. through my birthday in early January). The pups were adorable while I was putting up the tree. I found their Christmas outfits, a sweater and hat respectively, and put it on them while I decorated. Eva did not mind her sweater, but Riggs' hat kept falling off. They did sit still long enough for this picture. Friday night was spent relaxing with D and the pups and watching some TV before calling it quits early....cause we're old now.

Saturday was a busy day. We woke up early to hit the gym quick before our plans for the day. Our nephew had a hockey game at 11:00 AM and we wanted to go see him play. It's the first year they are keeping score and actually assessing penalties, etc. We watched him before, but it's fun to see them start to play for real, with plays and formations. Gives you a chance to really cheer. My nephew also got an assist so that was cool too.

Afterwards we decided to grab lunch at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, which was both a good and bad idea. It was so filling I needed a nap afterwards. We did manage to wrangle up some of our friends for a night in. It is rare that most of our close friends are all randomly available at the same time so we were kind of lucky. They came over and we chatted, played a couple of games and watched a movie. Well we attempted to watch a movie. Remember we are old? Two of us are pregnant so we did not make it all the through but it was fun nonetheless.

Sunday was another relaxed day. I slept in a bit and then tried to do some organizing for planning Christmas gifts, making my wishlist and sending out some communication long over due. Eventually I got myself in gear for a little yoga and then a little shopping. Picked up a couple of Christmas gifts and some sale things that I needed. Ended my evening with a little Walking Dead and puppy cuddle time.

So being that it is Cyber Monday I thought I would share some of the scores I made this weekend along with some deals to look out for today.

Holiday weekend

Some of these may not be super exciting for you, but they were for me. I am in that space now where I needed some new bras. For those of you who are pregnant or have been you know what I mean. Victoria's Secret had 50% off all their bralettes, sports bras and select bras this weekend so I went to check them out ( p.s. they still have this deal today, linked below).  My sister had told me to not spend too much on a new bra because, well, you won't need them for long. I spotted these soft Body by Victoria bras and gave them a whirl. These are so soft I can't stand it. They do not have adjustable straps but so far so good, they just slide on like a shirt. Definitely a win with 50% off I got two for $30! On Friday ASOS had 30% off (p.s. they still do) so I snagged a few maternity items. I don't want to buy too many maternity clothes but things are slowly becoming tight and I don't want to stretch out too many of my clothes. I am hopeful these will work. The other maternity tops I liked, I am having a hard time with the jeans. I will keep you posted on these. Last, but certainly not least I scored this Kate Spade number. Over the weekend they had 75% off some of their items. This metallic purse leapt out at me and with the nod of approval from D I got this for $99 when it was originally $398. Worth it.

ASOS 30% off with code THANKFUL30
Gap 50% off with code CYBMON
Banana Republic 50% off online only, no code required

Kate Spade 30% off with code WIRED

What about you? Any great deals you snagged this weekend?

Oak + Thread Jewelry (Discount code inside!)

It is no secret I love jewelry. I go in phases of loving delicate vs statement, metals vs jewels. It varies so much even I can't keep up. These days I am more about the delicate, subtle pieces. Items that can be easily layered or translate with multiple items in my wardrobe. Buying pieces for me is an investment. Having items I can only wear with 1 or 2 outfits is not worth it for me and, frankly, some mornings I just don't have time to think about it super clearly.

When I came across Oak + Thread I felt I found a new jewelry home. The site is full of delicate, mostly, metal earrings, rings, necklaces and bracelets. There are a few items with semi precious stones for those of you in favor of that style. I have seen sites like this before and then I go to look at the price tag and it's way outside my budget. I was pleasantly surprised to see these totally affordable prices well suited for a gift for you or someone else for this holiday season.

I searched and around and was immediately drawn in by two pieces:

This ring is fantastic. I am loving the negative spaces in jewelry pieces. This ring caught my eye for that specific reason. I also love the uniqueness of the onyx color (psst. also comes in gold and silver). I don't have any black metals in my collection and this is the perfect addition to my monochrome closet. I was a little nervous it wouldn't fit as you don't select a size. I have big knuckles (weird , I know) and skinny fingers but it fits just fine on my ring finger. So don't let that deter you.

These earrings were bought to replace a similar item. I had some gold bar studs I lost a few months back, but were not as long as these. I love the simplicity and that they are almost long enough to qualify for a dangle carrying without getting in the way. As pretty as long earrings are, they just are not practical for my day to day. Gold is the staple in my wardrobe but these also come in silver. I have worn them basically every day since I got them.

Like what you see? Well you are in luck. Head on over to Oak + Thread  and use the code meghan15 to get 15% off your order! Great deal right? I definitely have my eye on a few more pieces I want to add to my collection. Or maybe I will just put them on holiday wishlist. Who knows? ;)

Monday Round Up + Sephora VIB Haul

Happy Monday everyone! I had another busy weekend again here, but I am going to keep it short. I will explain why soon.  I hope you all had a great week and are looking forward to a short week for the holiday. I also have a few fun things coming to the blog soon too so stay tuned!

Well the weather took a huge turn on Friday. We went from 50s and 60s to 20s and 30s, not to mention snow. Friday afternoon it snowed but it was raining earlier so it was icy and slush. It was super windy and gross. I left work a bit early and went home to work out. D had his band concert that night so we braved the weather. It was a shorter concert but fun.

Saturday was a super busy day. That night was one of my closest friend's bachelorette party. I was helping plan it so it was a busy day. I did some last minute cleaning and shopping for it. I did not sit still all day. That night we started at my house for apps, drinks  and gifts. We transitioned to Bar La Grassa for dinner.  It is an Italian restaurant with a fun vibe. We rented the wine room so we had a big room for ourselves. We ate and socialized. After dinner I had to run to the car to pay the meter. On the way back I tripped on my shoe, stumbled and eventually fell square on my face. I thought I could recover and it became apparent quickly I couldn't. I was able to get my hands out, but I still hit my face. Thankfully a friend came with me and her calm kept me calm. My knees and hands were all scratched up and my chin. I ended up calling my doctor too to make sure the baby was ok and I should be in the clear. Downside? I am pretty sure I sprained my left hand and wrist badly. It hurst to type, hence the short post. After we hit up a couple of more bars before closing out at a place with a DJ. We got to the bride to be to dance, so it was a definite win!

Sunday D and I went to the Vikings game. For his birthday I pooled my money with his parents and my parents got a pair of tickets. D was so excited, like a kid on Christmas morning. US Bank Stadium is in its inaugural season  and rumor had it it was gorgeous. Rumors were true. I was incredibly impressed. The stadium was huge and fan friendly. Open concourses, plenty of amenities and not a bad seat in the house. We were also in desperate need of a win, we lost 4 in a row after winning 5 in a row. It was a heck of a game and happy to saw WE WON!!!  Totally worth braving the cold for and D was so happy.

Overall it was a very busy weekend and as fun as it was, I am ready for a more relaxed weekend next weekend.

In the mean time I received my Sephora VIB haul with the help of Candice, She's Leaning In, picked up a few items.

Sephora VIB

Sephora VIB by mcainmoss featuring a gel eyeliner

one / two / three / four / five

The Laura Mercier powder and Drybar Triple Sec 3-in-1 I already had. I was out of these two products and wanted to take advantage of the sale. Laura Mercier I got last Christmas and it is the perfect foundation powder. I put a little liquid tinted primer on first but then layer this over the top and it's perfection. It goes on light and stays all day. The Drybar Triple Sec is my new favorite texturizer. It adds just enough texture without adding too much weight to my hair. It also smells fresh and amazing. I am obsessed with hair products that have a fresh smell. I highly recommend this as your next texturizer.

Next up were some make up products. I was in the market for a new liner and mascara I am constantly on the hunt for the best mascara and this Too Faced Better Than Sex came highly recommended. I do not have full lashes so I need something to add some volume. This definitely did the trick. The brush adds some fullness and I only need maybe two coats to get the desired effect. What else, this is kind of odd, the casing feels expensive. Most are just light plastic, this feels like a metal. Maybe it's just me but adds some luxury to it. Maybe I am an easy sell I don't know. The Marc Jacobs Gel liner was also worth a try. Not sure I am super sold on it. I am into having a bit more of a smudged liner look, maybe that's what it is. I also wish I would have bought a lighter color. The brown is a bit too dark and sparkly, but I think a lighter more matte color would be right up my alley.

Last but not least the creme de la creme. Probably because it is a cream ;) The Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. This is one of those lotions with a thick consistency. Unlike others though it spreads like a light body lotion. You don't need much I also learned to get the desired effect. It is definitely moisturizing without adding too much grease. I actually used it on my face the other day when I ran out of moisturizer. I was walking around for 30 minutes trying to figure out the smell before I realized what it was. It smells like a summer suntan lotion almost, but more of a perfume flavor. Smells like a dream. I am obsessed.

Overall a succesful haul.

How was your weekend? Leave me a comment below I would love to hear about it or if you took advantage of the Sephora sale.

Combo Sweaters + #H54F

Hey everyone!  Thank goodness for Friday am I right? It has been a super busy week around here and have been slacking in the blogging department. Sorry about that but when I explain my week I think you will understand. Next week I should be back on a regular schedule and have a couple fun things coming to the blog so stay tuned!

I don't think I have put a puppy picture up in a bit. Riggs has become more needy than usual in the last couple of months. I don't know what is up with him but he is basically on top of us all the time. Demanding our attention and affections. I would be more irritated if it was not so adorable.

Let's get this out of the way shall we? The weather has continued to be glorious. Warm for November and mostly sunny. It is highly unusual for it to be this nice this late in the year. I think we are going to start paying for it. Today it is supposed to snow. I am not happy about it. Hopefully it won't be that much and will melt quickly. I am not ready for snow.

This week proves to be another busy week. Not only is work picking up like crazy but I am prepping to help host a friend's bachelorette  party this week where we are starting at my house. I had to run out buy some items and clean the house. Somehow squeeze that in with doing some work from home. I am really excited for the party, but definitely ready for this week to be over and go back to some leisure time. I think starting the week off in a tired place because of the fashion show late on Sunday, made it a more stressful week. Looking forward to a more relaxed time next week.

It's just an update week I guess. I am 26 weeks and counting and #overit. Baby is feeling bigger and stronger. Movement is bigger and seems to have more oomph behind it. We are trying to get the registry done, hope to accomplish that next week.

I am in the business of mixing maternity vs. non-maternity clothes right now. I picked up this top from local favorite Proper & Prim . I knew it would be perfect because although not a maternity top it might as well be. Bonus? It's comfy as humanly possible. The top is more of a sweatshirt material (my dream material) but the bottom is a sturdy, pleated shirt material. In the front the sweatshirt is cut so it would come up just over a pregnant belly. It's magic. I am not usually one to wear a lot of pink but figured this might be fun as I could easily edge it out with some black jeans, booties and more edgy mixed metal jewelry. For this look, I kept it simple and preppy with these maternity ASOS jeans (stay tuned for a more thorough review), statement necklace from Target and the king of prep Michael Kors purse. This feels very Spring like to me but I do like the contrast with the Fall colors. Lastly, I topped it off with this amaze metallic Quipid shoes (probably the edgiest thing about this look). I love a slip on loafer, something about the silhouette, and the metallic material just pops with this top. In fact a co-worker told me these shoes were "poppin'" when I wore them the first time. I love them.
