Hope you all had a wonderful holiday with family, friends or chosen family! We had a great time seeing most of our families and friends in four consecutive days. Although we had a wonderful time I am exhausted today and am glad to have one more day off to relax and take care of a few things. Hope you got some time away from work to relax too.

I thought I would show you a few of my favorite pictures of our celebrations before I share my Christmas Eve outfit.

Red is for Christmas

Ok so normally I don't wear this much red, but I must be feeling the Christmas spirit this week. We are officially four days ahead from Christmas and I am taking the next five days off of work. Hallelujah! I am ready for a break. who is with me?

Plaid Pants

I am always envious of those girls that can mix patterns like a champ. I have read the blogs about how to pattern mix and I get it, intellectually, then I go to put it in practice and it just doesn't look like those other girls.

When an outfit does it for me it's a real win. I have to admit when the side-striped pant (tuxedo print aside) became popular I was a bit of a skeptic. It has definitely grown on me though and I took the plunge with these legging style pants. I saw them when I walked in the Primp Holiday Fashion Show. I had to have them. I loved the plaid pattern because it is definitely a print but not too big. I am still overall a bit print shy. What really sold me was the stripe. The bold red stripe won me over, maybe it's the season that red is appealing to me. I knew I had a couple of red sweaters at home also this would work with the too many black tops I have as well. I'll only buy something if I know I can wear it with multiple items. These pants are also a bit high waisted so I love that I can tuck something into them to create a flattering silhouette. This red top I got from my Stitch Fix but there are so many similar sweaters, I linked a few for you! Very on trend right now and super cozy!

Happy Monday! Two Mondays from now it is going to be Christmas Eve, can you believe it? I am counting down the days and ready for some serious time off with my family. Who's with me? That also means holiday parties are in full swing. I went to my first official party this week and got all dolled up!

Who says you can't have bare legs in the winter? Well I won't lie, it was pretty cold taking these photos but I love this look too much to care. It's not a secret I love neutrals and when I can pair them all together for a monochrome look, I am in heaven.

Saturdays

Saturdays are the best day of the week, right? You have had a chance to get a good night sleep (in theory) and you have the whole day to do what you want. It's a glorious, free day where you see friends, go fun places, grab a coffee or just enjoy a day off.

My Favorite Holiday Looks

The holiday season is officially here! Now that we are through the major sale weekend and only bought for others right? ;) It's time to start thinking about all those holiday parties! There are lots of items to choose from so I thought I would narrow down some options for you.

JUMPSUITS

One of my favorite things in the whole wide world is jumpsuits. I honestly think they are flattering on everyone. They come in so many shapes they can work for any body type. I tend to prefer a wide leg style myself like this Leith glittery jumpsuit. For my petite ladies, I would recommend something tighter at the ankle and more cropped to create a longer silhouette.

DRESSES

"Florals for Spring? Groundbreaking..." That's how I feel in talking about dresses for the holiday. Like, duh. However, there are some fun trends this year like velvet or a funky leopard print. I threw in a great holiday red, I have a similar dress to this that is the best! This is also a great opportunity for a glitter moment.

SKIRTS + TOPS

The last couple of years for Christmas I have opted for a sweater and skirt combo. It's generally more flattering on my body and I like that I can mix and match. Gotta have options ;) I really like the idea of a longer and dressy skirt with a more simplistic top. It would also be fun to turn that around with a shimmery top and a clean skirt.

JEWELRY

The holiday season is one of the few times a year I go all out with statement jewelry. You can let your glam flag fly this time of year. A big ol' necklace or some shiny earrings really add that extra holiday spirit. The decorations glimmer this time of year, why can't you?

SHOES

The right pair of shoes really pulls a whole look together.  I generally opt for a black option or a nude option. I like to go a little crazy with glitz on the rest of the look that I typically keep the shoe clean and simple. This shimmer bootie would be a great way to achieve that. That being said a there is always a place for a class heel

What are some of your favorite pieces?

Happy Black Friday! It is finally here. The day after Thanksgiving where we can officially celebrate the holiday season. We kick it off with the shopping-ist day of the year. I get most of my shopping done this weekend. Mostly, to get it out of the way and not feel so stressed. Also, because I can get some amazing deals and end up getting more or better gifts for my family.

'M' is for Madewell

Happy Monday! Who is ready for a short week? This gal. It's been really busy around here lately and I am ready for a break. Hope you all get some much-needed downtime this week.

I am not sure if I have ever discussed how much I love Madewell. I was introduced to the brand nearly eight years ago when my friend discovered them online and it was some unknown retailer we were trying out. It wouldn't be for a couple of years before I tried it myself. This weekend I went to their store at  my local mall and told D "I could live here." Literally, everywhere I looked I wanted to buy something. Unfortunately, Christmas is on the horizon and I gotta scale back.

Leopard Can Change Her Mind

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend. The weather here has officially turned for winter and it appears as if there is no going back. Most people I have seen have their Christmas trees up already. I am not about that life yet. In my mind, Christmas decor is saved for after Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving and I won't rush it away, ha!

This weekend we got our first real snowfall and a few blogger gals and I attempted to go to this Christmas market. It was packed! It took forever to get in and then it was just too crowded. So we traveled to a nearby park where we took some photos before we completely froze our tails off. The things we do for picture...

I am late to the party on the leopard trend. I didn't really love it at all at first. Then I thought I would be open to a shoe or a bag. Now, I want to wear it from head to toe. Well not exactly head to toe, but pretty close. When I saw this sweater from Target I knew it was the perfect leopard print to start. A simple silhouette but with the warm leopard print. It is part of the A New Day line so it can easily be worn with a black pant for work and transitioned to some edgy jeans for weekends. For a more casual weekend look I paired it with these furry mules from Target also. I got these last year but they are in stores again. They are so comfortable and a great Gucci dupe. I wore them constantly last year, it's like a slipper you can wear in public. I will say for the sweater I sized up to a medium. The model wears it a little loose and that's how I wanted it too, also for the length in the sleeves and waist. Just a heads up.

Affordable Work Wear

Workwear is always something that is evolving for me. I like, in general, to keep my work wear and leisure wear separate. Dressing the part helps me focus at work and get in the right mindset. That said, I don't have a never-ending budget. Budget-friendly styles are important and can be mixed and matched with old favorites.

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and adjusted to the time change. I have to admit, Daylight Savings really threw Reese and I for a loop. She has a fairly rigid schedule, that she has established mind you, and when it gets off it's never good. She woke up a little late so I tried to accommodate the schedule by slightly moving things around. No dice. It was a rough day. Anyone else struggle with the time change?

My First Facial Ever

*services were provided in-kind, but all opinions are my own*

Maybe this is crazy but I literally have never had a facial in my life before. I know this seems strange, but I rarely go to the spa or get my nails done. It's only ever been a 'treat' for me. With winter around the corner and my skin becoming drier with each morning frost, I decided it was time for a change.

Happy Halloween! This is one of my absolute favorite holidays! We have been having parties with friends since my freshmen year of college. They aren't as rowdy as they once were, but we still have a great time.

Chenille Crop Top

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend! We had a fairly busy one prepping and throwing a Halloween party. Sunday was basically a day of clean up and rest. I am pretty tired so I am going to keep this short and sweet today.

I admit it took me a minute to get on the chenille trend. I didn't love it at first, I can't explain it. I thought maybe I just wasn't about the texture. In doing some searching I think it's all about the silhouette of the shirt. I found this black one at a local favorite boutique, Apricot Lane , and it's crop! Love it so much as I am almost exclusively wearing high waisted jeans these days. May they never go out of style. I also think chenille feels like a more winter material. It's very soft, cozy but has a sheen to it that reads more holiday. Less so with this black material but it still does. I dressed it down with these old favorite jeans from Gap. They were the first jeans I thought of when I tried on this top,  I knew it would create a great shape. The top hits at just the right spot I also traded out my block heel sandal for these sock booties. My husband got me these Steven Madden ones for our anniversary and I really love them. A perfect neutral color that will go with everything from jeans to dresses.

Trend: Camoflauge

I must admit, it took me a long time to get on the camo train. Growing up I had a real hard time with this trend.  There never seemed any good way to style. It was typically more oversized (hello 90s) and just not done in a chic way. As I got older I started to see some camo pants that I thought I could maybe get on board with, but I never could find just the right pair. The fit was always off or could figure out how to style it. My fashion choices were fairly safe when I was younger.

That has all changed. It initially started with this hat. I found around Mother's Day, the message and the pattern go together perfectly and I broke the fashion seal.

Months later I discovered these pants from Express. Lots of blog gals are wearing them and they are the best I have found. I linked them above in #3. The fit on these is pretty comfortable because they are a mid rise and the zipper ankle and fringe hem are really unique. Guarantee you will love these!

Right now I am on the hunt for a camo tee or sweatshirt. I think I really like this tee from Sanctuary. The weather is getting a lot colder so a short sleeve tee just doesn't seem like what I want to do right now. This looks perfectly comfy and casual. I would pair it with a faux leather legging or skinny jean. You also cannot go wrong with a sweatshirt. Z Supply has some of the softest tees and sweatshirts I have ever tried on. I like that this one is a little lived in and the grey tone is just something a little different. Some great staples are a jacket if you aren't ready to wear the pattern all day. Praise be to Target for this number. I also cannot say enough about Spanx leggings and now they make these with a black camo! So gorgeous and my go-to legging!
