Happy freakin' friday everyone! This has been an absolute bear of a week and I am so ready for the long weekend. D and I are headed out of town to Milwaukee to visit our friend. I have been there one other time but it was just to see a baseball game. I have heard nothing but good things about the city. If you have any recommendations send 'em my way!
In lieu of a standard H54F I wanted to talk about the Northern Vogue fashion show I went to a couple of weeks ago . The show is putting on at By Niche and some proceeds go to benefit Dress for Success. I went to this show last year and had a good time. I love seeing fashions by local designers and boutiques. So many creatives in Minneapolis it always blows my mind. This year I was invited to go but was nervous because I was not sure who else was going. I'll be honest, I was watching my blogger babes instastories to see who else was going. I am painfully socially awkward, haha. I saw a couple of gals going and felt better. One sweet friend kept me up to date on her whereabouts as I wandered aimlessly ;)
The night began with a little social hour while we waited to go in. It was nice I got to meet a few other cool people, some who I follow and have never met. Everyone was lovely. The show was in a few parts, also somehow I snagged a front row seat which was super cool! I felt so special and got a swag bag!
The show itself showcased several local designers as well as various boutiques. Truly awesome looks varying from street style to higher-end pieces. A great variety of styles. I seriously loved just about everything. Can I please have all the money to buy it now? You could actually buy the pieces at the event too, which is really nice and it benefitted dress for success. Here are a few of my favs
There was an after party but unfortunately, I had to go home because D was out of town and my mother-in-law was watching Reese. It would have been nice to stay but I was pretty tired too.
My outfit though.....I am excited about this. I found this dress at the best place ever, Zara. I love, love love this pattern. Super bright and fun and I am typically not a pink gal but this more hot pink color really struck me. When I am dressing for events I try to think not only of the occasion but the venue. The show was hosted at the W Minneapolis and it has a lot of pinks and purples. I thought this would fit in well with the brightness of the venue. I am also a huge fan of a midi cut. I am on the taller side so I can get away with this. I think it is a really slimming cut as it flatters the figure and frames your legs in a good way. Isn't the print fun? Just bright and out there for summer. Since the dress has a lot going on I did add the statement earrings from Baublebar but I kept everything else basic. I wore some of my most simple nude heels and my go-to Kate Spade for going out. I got a lot of compliments on this dress and even one beauty blogger friend complimented my make up, so I felt pretty proud of myself ;)
