I hope you all had a great weekend! I had a wonderful one. The weather finally turned around and got beautiful! Sunny all weekend and cool enough for a cardigan but not cold. There was still a warmth in the air and you could feel the heat of the sun on your skin. Just perfect Fall weather we really could not have asked for more.

It is definitely time to start with all the Fall gear, shoes included. I have been looking for years for a pair of black moto boots with some cool buckles and details. All the ones I loved were always too expensive or didn't have the right look. When I attended Minnesota's Fashion Week Kick Off event last Thursday I really wanted a pair to edge out an old LBD. I had grand plans of showing that look to you all, maybe I will eventually, but the weather had other plans.  The next day I decided to pair them with this top and jeans for casual Friday at work and I got compliments on my shoes all day. It got me thinking how surprisingly versatile these shoes are. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's not like these can be made to be preppy or anything but it's fun to see how it can edge out a variety of looks. I decided this week I am going to show three ways to wear these boots this week. This is look #1 and I will share two more on Wednesday and Friday so stay tuned!

I bought this waffle knit top a little while back from a local boutique Apricot Lane . It's the perfect waffle knit in my opinion. It's thick enough for Fall and it also keeps its shape well. I have a thing about fabrics that stretch out so you'll hear me say that a lot. This particular top is really long, but I like to wear it tied in the front. I do sometimes wear it with leggings and it is definitely long enough for leggings. The actual on is sold out but I linked a couple similar ones. I was surprised how much I liked it with the moto boots. Waffle knits are pretty casual tops more commonly paired with a flat of some kind. To help blend between the top and the shoes I wore my favorite black jeans from Gap, that don't fade by the way so they are perfect! The crisp white of this top and fabric is definitely what makes these boots work for daytime.

Now, these boots have a lot happening on them. I just love a big buckle, but the trick is not to find one that looks too goth or like a combat boot. The studs and grommet details give it more of a moto vibe. Since the boots are pretty busy, most of my looks this week will be relatively simple and pattern free. The boots are the star here, so the rest of the outfit has to follow suit. You know when you put an outfit on and it just 'clicks'? This was that for me. A great mix of hard and soft was perfect for a casual Friday.
