It has been hot, hot, hot around here lately. Heat and humidity is a real hallmark of a Minnesota summer. So as much as we want to be outside it can be a little uncomfortable. What I try to look for are light and airy outfits. Sometimes even a denim short, as cute as it is, is too heavy to wear. Enter here a great summer dress. Light and breezy and cute to boot!

I found this dress from one of my favorite local retailers Apricot Lane. I had been eyeing it for weeks before I finally bit the bullet. I loved the floral pattern. I was surprised I liked it, honestly because I am not typically a fan of such a small floral print. I just love it though. It also has these small ruffle details that add some volume without a lot of fabric, to keep you cool but add some interesting texture. The faux wrap bodice is always a flattering cut as well. Any opportunity to do the faux wrap is a good day and is truly flattering on everyone. It hits right at the smallest part of your waist and then flares out, creating that beautiful shape. It's a little on the short end, but the straps are adjustable for a tall gal like me.

I wore this last week when we were bopping around Chicago and it was perfect for the windy city. I paired these cute block heels that I love. But you could also go with a neutral sandal or white sneaker. I brought my jean jacket along but it was way too hot, but I do love the idea of a draped jean jacket. Ideally, a boyfriend cut would be so cute.
