I have been meaning to post about this shirt forever. It somehow has always gotten put on the backburner, but I think it's appropriate now. Almost cosmically so.

I am not always a fan of graphic tees, but sometimes one speaks to me and I feel better when I wear it. Rebecca Minkoff's line lately (or maybe always I just started shopping it) has been very feminist as of late and I am not hating it. I actually bought this one during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and got it in a medium. It's a little big but I like it because I can tie it if I want, tuck it in or french tuck. It just gives me more options. Lately, I have been feeling more "woman power." Part of it is since having a daughter I think I am more conscious of my behavior, the behavior of others and the world I want her to grow up in. Part of it is also the society we are in today. I won't get preachy, but it has been on my mind more and more.

I have gotten to thinking about being silent. Like I said normally I don't wear graphic tees. I find them generally to be too loud and to draw too much attention.  The attention I don't normally like, which is odd for a fashion blogger I know. Lately, I have been thinking that silence is good in some situations and not in others. There are spaces and places where I need to speak more, where I need to speak up and use my voice in an appropriate way. In those places, I am done being silent. I am done worrying if what I say might be upsetting because the people dominating the conversation don't seem to have the same concerns.

These days I will put on my Superwoman shirt for myself, for my daughter, for my friends, and for my family.  I will use my intelligent, strong voice to be heard in the conversation and won't stop until I am sure I am heard. We're Superwomen every day, we've just been too quiet about it.
