Happy Galentine's Day! / My Monochromatic Life

Happy Galentine's Day! Inspired by the all-powerful Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation Galentine's Day is a day you celebrate your lady friends. Or as Leslie would put it "It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.” I could never say it better than her. For this Galentine's Day I partnered with several of my favorite blogger babes for an epic bash!

We met up at the beautiful Anahata Collaborative and their beautiful space! A cozy space meant to be flexible for whatever you need from gatherings like ours or setups for local creatives. A mix of industrial but with some warm tones it was the perfect setting for some spirits from Cutwater Spirits and indulgent worthy Valentine's candies. I have to say my favorite was the marshmallow hearts which are basically peeps in the shape of a heart. I do not know how to impress upon you enough how much I love peeps. Any opportunity to snack on them outside of Easter I am totally there for. How cute is this table? So dainty, filled with love and friendship. These ladies are some amazing girls I have met along the way of this blogging journey and have made it so much easier. These girls are super supportive and we share ideas, tips, tricks and generally provide positive encouragement. These ladies are worth celebrating with the most adorable party ever.

Want to have a Knope style Galentine's party? First, make friends with amazing ladies that know how to throw something like this including Bree (Bree Pair) and Carrie (Blushing Bubbly) These ladies are serious boss babes and easy, breezy had the perfect idea for aesthetics. Also essential are super positive spirits like Heather ( Heart of Heather); Marla (Just Marla Jean) , Dua ( Hey Dua), and Jenn (Jenn Patrice) for the most fun. I so enjoyed chatting and laughing with these girls. We chatted about the weather (hi, we live in Minnesota), blogging, and funny stories from our week. Also, did you know that when you are actually being natural photos look great, but when told to be natural you freeze up? True story. Kudos to Katzie (Katzie and Ben Photography) for working through our strangeness to capture these joy-filled moments. Let me tell you something else, these girls brought it fashion wise. I loved everything they were all wearing and you are going to want to check out their posts too to get details!

Lastly, who can pass up an opportunity for balloons? Not us. How cute are these? Not a celebration without balloons. I know Valentine's is focused on romantic love, but Galentine's is a fun way to celebrate the intimacy in friendships and the essential support they provide. Your friends are there for you in all situations and are deserving of appreciation for you mean to each other.

For my first look (stay tuned for tomorrow's look) I went more casual for my gals. This tee from Loft is so adorable and more subtly Galentine's, which is definitely more my speed. I love delicate detail and I don't typically wear that much pink or red anyway. When I found this black tee with a heart, I knew it was for me. Also, fun fact 60% of the proceeds of this tee goes to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital. So not only is it cute but it does good too! I am really into these jeans right now too. It's basically a mom jean, but more flattering and fashionable. A high waist jean with a tee tucked into it creates a flattering silhouette. It's a more casual look but with a stylized twist. I added the belt to break up the top and tee, but also because I love it and this dupe is so perfect. I thought I should add a little pink for Galentine's and I saw these earrings at Target and loved them. A hint of pink to bring into the theme. Also, I wore these old Zara platforms that I get compliments on every time I wear them. A platform shoe is still on trend and I find that if there are colors I steer more away from, like pink, they are best used in accessories. I am loving these look for a casual Galetine's day celebration!
