Happy Wednesday! I'm back! I hope you all had a great weekend and relaxing Labor Day. Well it was a long holiday weekend for me and lots to share with you, we are going to bring it back around all the way to Thursday because I did not talk about it last Friday.
On Thursday I went to the Great Minnesota Get Together, The Minnesota State Fair, which is basically my favorite summer activity. The last 10 days before Labor is the best state fair in America. I promise you. It is full of the best, unhealthy food you have ever had in your life. Worth the hefty price tag. I went this year with my parents and took a half day off of work. We walked around, ate tons of food, rode the sky glider and took in some music. The sky glider is fun because it takes you almost the full length of the fair and you get to see the fair from a different angle. At the end of the night we watched a band called The Twilight Hours, which consist of two of the members of the band The New Standards and two members of the old band Sublime. They were so great. One of the band members, John Munson, is one of the funniest performers ever. We had a great time.
Friday we went up to my in-laws cabin. We got up there a little late, but had enough time to grill and sit by the fire. Saturday we went out on the lake and to our favorite Kettle Falls. My in-law's in-laws were up too and had never been. The downside is it was pretty windy on Saturday and we were on a big lake. The ride out and back was a bit choppy, so we headed in a bit earlier than normal. It was another night of grilling and campfire. The weather was nice and cool at night so it was perfect for campfire. Overall a great weekend up north.
Sunday we had to leave the cabin early for a wedding. An old friend of mine was getting married in St. Paul and we had to be there. We got home, quickly showered and headed out. They got married at the Embassy Suites in St. Paul in their beautiful atrium followed by a reception in their banquet hall. I have known him a long time and it was strange to see him get married, mostly because they both giggled all the way through their vows. I got to see some old friends I have not spent time with or seen in years. It was so great to catch up with them and we had a great night.
Monday was a relaxing day. Some friends invited us up for grilling so we decided to head over for some BBQ action. It gets harder and harder these days to see everyone so when we can all get it is always a good time. We watched a movie and headed home to gear up for work.
I work at a school so Tuesday kind of felt like the first day of school for me too. When I was in school I always meticulously planned my outfit. I thought I would take this opportunity to pick out a new 'first day' outfit. If I had a first day of school I would totally rock this look. It's Fall so time to bring out the long sleeves, but not ready for full blown sweaters. I love a blouse in Fall and this ruffled blouse from Banana Republic. I would pair them with these sailor jeans. Sailor pants have come in and out of style and I am on board every time. They do need a little boot and snazzy bag. Ready for the first day?
What do you think? What did your 'first day' outfit consist of? Leave me a comment I would love to hear from you!
