Happy last Friday of 2016! I cannot believe the year is coming to a close already, at the same time it's been a rough one right? Here's hoping to a positive 2017! In the meantime one last week of H54!

1. CHRISTMAS EXTENSION
On Monday our Christmas festivities continued. My mother's side is a big family so a few years ago we started celebrating Christmas on a different day. Typically it's the weekend after Christmas but given that  Christmas was on a weekend we did it Monday. I love my family, but I was so tired. We stayed for about 2 hours before peaceing out.

2. WERK
I worked all week but because I work for a school and they are closed I got to work from home most days, which ain't bad. Downside is I had to go in a couple of days for some meetings so I didn't get as much done as I would have liked. However, it is pretty chill for the week after Christmas

3. COFFEE DATE
On Wednesday I met up with with a local fashion lady I met doing the Innovations MN fashion event last month. Her name is Sara (@ladydextergoesrogue) and we connected over fashion and both being therapists. We decided to meet up this week at, apparently local hot spot, Spyhouse Coffee. I was a little late, cause I can never get it together on time, and she was gracious to wait. She was absolutely lovely! We talked about local fashion, blogging, our professions and family.  I love getting to meet other cool local people and I am so glad I got to know her better.

4. PUPPY UPDATE
So the dogs love when I am home. Particularly Riggs who loves every cuddle moment he can get. When I am working it is frustrating for him that my computer is on my lap and not him. I promised him cuddles one day but then ran behind and later we saw a movie. On Thursday, I had time to sit with him on the couch and he soaked it all in.

5. NYE PARTY LOOKS
This year we are celebrating again with some of our closest friends. They have hosted for the last few years and never disappoint. Last year they had a 1920s prohibition theme so we all dressed up in our speakeasy best. The year before was a more straightforward cocktail theme. This year is another fun theme, but you will have to follow along (@mymonochromaticlife) or stop by on Monday to see.

2015

2016

If you haven't picked up your look I pulled together a few options for you. For those sparkly girls Express is a great go-to. They love a sequin dress there and there is no shame in there NYE game. Plus you can usually get it for a reasonable price. For those of you less sequin-included you can go more metallic in a mini, or embrace the other trend this year of velvet. Either these options from Nordstrom would be perfect for a night out on the town. These don't strike your fancy? Mix it up with a hot jumpsuit, cause nothing s wrong with a jumpsuit, or these BB Dakota cropped, lace number. Either of which might be a bit more unexpected. If dresses are not your style you can pair a fun top with some great leggings. I like to use NYE as an excuse for all things sequin and this Free People top would pair so well with these leather leggings. After pregnancy, I want to get a pair of leather leggings again. They are a great way to amp up a look. What do you think?
