Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a beautiful and funfilled weekend! It was a pretty warm weekend around here and definitely a good one to get out on the water, although I did not. Did y'all have a good weekend? Mine was definitely eventful in more ways than one.

I will be honest, I had planned to do a whole different post today. However, I had a physical health issue that prohibited me but I will get to that. On Friday we had dinner for my older sister's birthday. The plan was to go to downtown St. Paul for dinner and drinks with the fam. We needed a sitter and tried the usual suspects but they were all busy. We asked one of our good friends if they would and, thankfully, they could. They live a bit of a distance away so we were really grateful they were willing to. Also, by the time we left she would almost be in bed so we promised them an easy evening ;) They arrive about 45 minutes before we had to go so Reese got a chance to remember that she knew them. Then we headed out. We had dinner at Louie over off of West 7th area. Dinner was good and then after we headed out to their rooftop for a few drinks. They have a really lovely rooftop. You can see the Cathedral from there and some of downtown, it's become quite a busy area in the last few years.  It was a gorgeous evening, warm but very little humidity. Perfect night. This top I wore I hope to get on the blog this week!

Saturday I had plans to see a concert with my parents. I woke up in the morning and my eye was bothering me. Earlier in the week, we thought Reese might have pink eye so we had drops around the house and I used them. D was working in the yard so I was inside watching Reese most of the day.

When she took her nap I ran out for an errand then all hell broke loose. My eye starting swelling up and getting red. I took a Benadryl thinking it was maybe an allergic reaction. It was getting worse as the night wore on and, if I am being honest, it just affected my whole psyche for the night. I didn't like anything I put on, my makeup and hair were impossible but eventually, I had to leave. I had to wear my glasses out, which I hate to do, but my parents said it was not that noticeable. We had tickets to see Har Mar Superstar sing Sam Cooke music. It was a popular show he was touring around America and I was really excited. The show was great, he is a great performer and singer. He is also so freakin' funny. He just makes you feel like you are his friends when he is talking to you and it made a big venue feel small. If you ever get a chance to see this man perform, you won't regret it. Unfortunately, I had to go home right after because my eye was swelling up like a balloon. By the time I got home, it looked like I had been punched. So swollen and read. I put some essential oils on it, diffused all night, put a cold compress on it, some drops and went to bed.

Sunday I woke up and my eye was a little better. Somewhat swollen, but appearing better so I opted not to see the doctor. I followed the same regime and it was looking better at night but just really bloodshot. I am hoping this does not take too long to heal. Any other suggestions for red, swollen eyes? I am open to suggestions. We had thought about going on the boat but I really did not want to agitate my eye any further so we just hung out at the house and played with Reese before finishing the day by watching Game of Thrones, again ;)

So because of my eye situation, I could not take any photos. In lieu of that, I thought I would share with you a few ideas for your 4th of July look. In enough time so you could still order online if you wanted to. Every year I do it a little different. Some years I just wear red, white and blue while other years something like USA is slapped on my shirt. I waver between both options. Every year we go to a Chicago suburb where my family lives and they have a big party, including fireworks. We play bean bags, eat waaay too much food and have a fireworks display without blowing anyone up. It's always a great time. I pulled together a few pieces from a wide range of dresses to casual tops. Target is really my go-to USA type items. They always have a small holiday section, and it's totally affordable so you don't feel guilty about buying something you will literally wear once. Dresses are also a good way to stay cool on a hot July day. That Leith dress I showed the other day that is super popular also comes in a bright red. I love this dress so much I would probably buy it in all the colors. This striped tee from ASOS really stood out to me as well. I love how vibrant the stripe is and the cuff on the sleeve. Accessories also help round out a look and this SugarFix by Baublebar ones are totally perfect!
