It's Friday party people and only 1 more Friday until Christmas!! The countdown is beginning. I have most of my shopping done which is great. Some things are coming in the mail but are a bit delayed, so I am glad I ordered early because everything is way behind. What is important is that I got my big cyber Monday purchase, which is coming to the blog soon so stay tuned. If you follow me on snapchat, and you should snap username: mcainmoss, then you will already know what it is. I am so excited about it! It is perfect for Christmas. This was just one in a line of good things for this week. What was good this week was pretty minimal so today I wanted to share with you this awesome event I attended last week.
IAMPLS is an event that highlights local Minneapolis shop owners, taste makers, artists , artisans and local cool people and also benefits charity. Last year my friend and I went to IAMSTPAUL, MPLS' sister show. The Minneapolis version was the original and although we had fun last year wanted to check out the what Minneapolis had to offer. It was hosted by Jana Shortal, a la Kare11, who was freakin' hilarious! She shook her stuff, entertained the crowd and rocked some amaze fashions. It is founded by the fantasitc Sarah Edwards who also has IAMKINDNESS, IAM INSPIRED, the list goes on and on. She was surprisingly shy when speaking for being at the forefront of these events and for getting married at IAMMPLS a couple of years ago. Let me take you through the highlights.
This is when Jana introduced Sarah to do the thank yous, explain the purpose of the evening, etc. Look at their style! Both so unique and killer! Jealous.
The night started off with a few comedians and this group of dancers showing up their mad tap skills. The comedians albeit funny, it was difficult to pay attention because people were talking. I honestly felt a bit bad for them but the last two (I feel so bad I don't remember their names, go to the website to see) were legitimately funny. It is just a tough environment when not everyone wants to pay attention. When the dancers came on they demanded a bit more attention with their tap skills. Check out the video below!
Then we set up for the fashion show. They showed a little video of everyone to be featured. It is an assortment of non-models, the aforementioned tastemakers, who walk in the show with typically local boutiques. This is what I come for. I wish I could attach the final walk video but I guess it's too big. Everyone had their own unique walk and added their own flare. It's fun to watch the personalities shine through.
Loved this girl.WERK! |
A little Jana Shortal shimmy, right after she shook her booty for everyone.

After the fashion show there was a performance by two bands. The event was a Thursday night and seeing as my friend and I work we didn't want to stay out too late. But I kind of knew the woman performing second so I wanted to wait and see her. Actually, she was pretty good so I'm glad we stuck it out.
If this looks fun to you, and you live around here you are in luck IAMSTPAUL is tomorrow, December 12th at The Turf Club. I have been to the Turf and it's a super cool place and guaranteed to be a fun night so check it out!
So here's the thing. This is a night for fashionistas and o's alike. I had to look good right. I have been obsessed with this dress for sometime and thought it was the right place to give it a shot. Downside? It was waaaaay more showy than I expected. I had to make few edits, including adding a strap to the back so the straps would not fall down and get some massive tape. I did feel a bit self-conscious and I was pretty cold so I did not take my jacket off all night. I used Hollywood Fashion Tape and it worked great! The rest I pulled from my closet. These fanstastic nude heels was probably the most expensive thing I was wearing. This is a Forever 21 dress and it was $29. I think it looks more expensive from that and you would never guess. What do you think? I am debating if I should rock this for my birthday in a few weeks. What do you think? Leave me a comment below I would love to hear from you!
